I'm not entirely sure what I think of Katz's approach. At first glance, it fails to take into account that an 'A' at Stanford is a unique grade and cannot be compared to an 'A' at another school, whether it be Berkeley, Harvard, William & Mary, Notre Dame, or Harrisburg Area Community College, for obvious reasons.
